If you’re shopping for a new corn planter, here are some you should check out before making a final purchase decision. Kinze updated its 4000 Series planters and 3665 planter by adding Yetter air-adjust row cleaners. This system makes it easier to adjust row cleaners from the cab so you can fine-tune their performance based on the conditions in your fields.

Vaderstad makes the second most popular planter in the world. The company displayed a prototype so U.S. farmers could get an idea of what the planter will look like when it debuts here soon. Meanwhile, the Chrono 924 precision planting row unit delivers seed to the bottom of the trench without escalator-like drop tubes for high-speed planting. The Chrono 924 unit is part of the Maschio Gespardo planter.

Plus, many companies offer aftermarket add-ons or replacement parts that they claim will improve planting accuracy emergence through more precise, more favorable seed placement. One you may not have heard of is the spike wheel ring with a special inner shoulder on the metal outside ring that spokespeople claim results in tucking the seed into the furrow more completely. It was invented and sold by a farmer through his company, Farm Shop. You can buy either just the outer metal ring or the complete closing wheel.
