3800 with ASD

New for 2010, the Kinze 3800 large-frame planter is now available with Kinze's new bulk-fill system called Air Seed Delivery (ASD). The ASD system features two centrally mounted seed hoppers with a total capacity of 110 bu. The 3800 is one of several models that will be available with ASD for 2010.

The 3800 is loaded with high-tech features such as dual-motor, variable-rate hydraulic driveline for variable-rate seeding and air clutches for on-off row section control. It works with the Kinze Vision display, which runs off GPS to guide the planter and control its functions. The planter comes in a 24-row 30-in. configuration and is available with either mechanical or vacuum meters. The base machine list price of the 3800 ASD is $145,940 with mechanical meters or $165,460 with Edge-Vac vacuum meters.

Digi-Star planter scale

This year Kinze is offering the Digi-Star planter scale package on all of its ASD planters as an option. “We are the first and only equipment manufacturer to provide this from the factory,” Blomme says. “It is a great management tool for those producers who are going to be buying an ASD planter.” Three 1,500-lb. load cells per seed tank provide operators with the gross and individual weights of the tanks. A platform-mounted display installed near the planter's ASD tanks provides for easy use when loading tanks. Operators can input the number of seeds per pound and the population data and see the number of acres to empty in each tank and an overall total. The information helps to keep leftover seed to a minimum. The planter scale integrates with the Kinze Vision system to allow growers to see both the number of acres until empty and individual tank weights from the tractor seat. Suggested list price: $3,489.

3660 models

Last year Kinze launched the Kinze 3660, a 16-row ASD planter available in 30-in. row spacing or interplant. This year the planter is also available in a 12-row model (in addition to its 16-row size) and a two-section version called 3660TS.

“This planter [the TS] came about as a result of requests from customers who wanted a 12- or 16-row planter with bulk fill but didn't want single-row air clutches and were not going to be using a GPS-capable display,” says Laura Blomme, training coordinator, Kinze.

The 3660 TS comes with two-section manual half-width disconnect, which means it has point row clutches that provide manual seed delivery shutoff of left and right halves of the planter. The planter comes standard with the Kinze Cobalt display, which is a more basic monitor than the Kinze Vision. Both the 3660 and 3660 TS are available in 30-in. row spacing or interplant and come with a choice of mechanical or Edge-Vac vacuum meters.

Suggested list price of the 3660TS: $76,050 for 12-row with mechanical meter; $84,220 for 12-row with Edge-Vac vacuum meter; $91,400 for 16-row with mechanical meter; and $102,240 for 16-row with Edge-Vac vacuum meter.
