The Kinze 4905 high-speed planter enables row crop farmers to plant at speeds from 3 to 12 mph without compromising singulation accuracy or spacing.

Faced with a myriad of challenges every growing season, farmers are always looking for ways to make their operations more efficient and profitable. High-speed planting technology continues to gain traction as a means to achieve that goal.

“Farmers and their operations are constantly facing time pressure to get their crops in the ground every planting season,” says Eric Broadbent, North America sales director for Kinze Manufacturing. “Most farmers are not going to forget the challenges they faced with 2019 spring planting.”

But Broadbent notes that high-speed planting offers more than a hedge against adverse weather. “More important is scalability,” he states. “Many farmers are really looking for a high-speed solution to expand their operations. They want to be able to plant more acres with the same size or number of planters.”

Kinze is introducing a new high-speed planting system, called True Speed, for the 2021 planting season.  It was developed by Kinze with support from Ag Leader, consisting of a high-speed electric meter and seed tube that will enable row crop farmers to plant at speeds from 3 to 12 miles an hour without compromising singulation accuracy or spacing.

“True Speed, which will be offered on Kinze’s 4905 planter model, will allow farmers to increase the acres they plant in a typical day, conditions permitting, providing more flexibility and increased productivity without sacrificing any precision,” Broadbent says.

The system also allows for quick seed type changeover and the ability to handle a variety of corn and soybean seed shapes and sizes. Farmers can also save time and money, because the system design provides easy maintenance.

05 Planter Series Updates

In addition to high-speed technology, the 4905 planter along with other Kinze models will offer a number of enhancements starting with the 2021 season. The 05 series updates will increase the wear life of many components, simplify maintenance, improve performance and reduce the overall cost of planter ownership.

“In this tight ag economy, we know every penny counts toward the bottom line,” says Kinze president Susanne Veatch. “Downtime, repairs and maintenance are all costly. We regularly receive suggestions from our customers and dealers about how we can improve our products in these areas. We listened and have spent a significant amount of time engineering ways to reduce downtime and repairs and increase performance.”

Enhanced planters will be designated by a model number ending in “05.”  For additional information, farmers can contact their Kinze dealer or visit Kinze.com.
