New 1260 models

Last year Case IH introduced its 1260 planter in a 36-row, 22-in. row spacing configuration. This year the full line is available, including 36-row, 20-in. and 32-row and 36-row, 30-in. models. Alan Forbes, Case IH marketing manager for planters, says the company has received more orders for the 20-in. version than for any other 1260 planter configuration. All 1260 planters feature a patented steerable rear axle for a 20-ft. tighter turning radius and a tongue weight that is four times lighter than that of other planters in its class. Each wing has its own wheel gear underneath to take the weight off the hitch in transport position and provide flotation in the field.

AccuRow for split row

Also new for 2010, Case IH has made its AccuRow clutches available on its split-row planters. “We had the AccuRow available as an option for traditional row spacings for everything 12 row and above,” Forbes says. “Now you can buy kits to get the clutches for 23-row or 31-row soybeans.” The clutches work with GPS to shut off row units in groups of two (30-in. rows) and groups of four (15-in. rows). Case IH AccuRow packages start at $7,500.

Upgrades

New heavy-duty row units are now on all Case IH planters. Enhancements include a heavier, beefed-up row-unit frame, a new heavy-duty disc opener bearing, and a double-row, triple-lip seal for longer life. Also new is a seed shoe that has been modified to allow for in-furrow fertilizer placement.
