DuPont business Pioneer Hi-Bred and MapShots have announced Pioneer will acquire controlling ownership of MapShots, Inc., a privately owned agricultural data management company that develops and sells proprietary crop management software.

“MapShots enhances the services available from Pioneer that help customers get the right product on the right acre and maximize their profitability,” said Sue Hoover, marketing director, Pioneer North America. “This announcement demonstrates our continuing commitment to provide Pioneer customers with exceptional service.”

Pioneer has had a long-standing business relationship with MapShots. The new relationship will allow Pioneer to extend its Pioneer FIT mapping service and information available through GrowingPoint Web site record-keeping service.

FIT mapping, available to customers through Pioneer sales professionals, is part of a suite of services they offer to growers to help them achieve the most effective hybrid/variety placements for growing conditions unique to their farm.

“MapShots will continue to sell, support and enhance our EASi Suite line of desktop software for growers and professional service providers,” said Ted Macy, MapShots owner and founder. “MapShots will also continue to license core precision ag components to other companies for inclusion in their products and services.”

“Together with Pioneer, MapShots will continue its commitment to open data standards that allow data sharing and compatibility across different brands of field equipment and software,” added Macy.

Based in Cumming, Ga., MapShots provides the agricultural industry with the EASi Suite brand of crop management software. EASi Suite enables the combination of field record-keeping information with precision ag data. It is used across the nation by growers who want to maximize their use of agronomic management information and by crop consultants and crop input retailers to provide crop planning and nutrient management planning services to their farm clients.
