An in-depth workshop for California cherry PCAs, consultants and packing shed field representatives, including the latest SWD findings and recommendations from California, Oregon and Washington researchers and important information for PCAs assisting cherry growers to comply with the 2012 Stockton-area Oriental Fruit Fly quarantine will also be presented.

Topics to include

Orchard monitoring of SWD: Trap design, lures and fruit sampling techniques Alternate hosts, movement, and seasonal population dynamics of SWD SWD insecticide efficacy and treatment timing trials Round-table discussion of SWD management with other participants Special information for cherry PCAs on the Oriental Fruit Fly quarantine in San Joaquin County, grower compliance agreements, harvest and movement restrictions, and pre-harvest orchard treatment requirements Featured speakers are: Dr. Bob Van Steenwyk, UC Berkeley; Dr. Peter Shearer, Oregon State University; Janet Caprile, UC Cooperative Extension, Contra Costa County; Kelly Hamby, UC Davis; and Scott Hudson, San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner
