El Nino or not, the Colusa County Fairgrounds will play host to northern California's largest and longest-running farm show the first week of February.

The Colusa Farm Show takes place Feb. 2-4 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Admission and parking are free for the three-day event.

Gates open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year marks the 51^st annual agricultural exposition, which offers a one-stop shopping opportunity for farmers and ranchers to look at the latest technology and services available from over 300 exhibitors.

The annual event typically draws between 30,000 and 35,000 visitors.

Tuesday’s activities are marked with a 9 a.m. presentation in the Pacific Gold Ag Building by Western Growers Insurance on a new crop margin product; an 11 a.m. discussion on the supply of farm laborers in California, the Rotary lunch meeting at noon; and, a 2 p.m. class on truck air conditioning systems.

Feb. 3 gets things started at 7 a.m. with the Ag Leadership Breakfast, hosted by the California Ag Leadership Program and Chico State Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. The breakfast takes place from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Hall, 745 Ware, Street, Colusa. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door.

The breakfast is a fundraiser for the Chico State Ag Alumni Committee, which has been able to increase scholarship offerings and establish a scholarship endowment to recruit top students to CSU Chico.

A 10 a.m. seminar on agricultural safety practices takes place in the Pacific Gold Ag Building with guest speaker Amy Wolfe, president and chief executive officer of AgSafe.

A seminar on GMO’s in the dairy industry will take place at 11 a.m. on Feb. 3 in the Pacific Gold Ag Building. At 1 p.m. in the same location is a seminar titled “Innovative Ag Marketing Workshop.”
