Krone Boosts Capacity Of Large Square Balers

Packing system and plunger stroke increase makes a 20% difference in capacity.

Krone North America has bumped the throughput of its  BiG Pack HighSpeed large square balers by 20% with a redesign of the Variable Fill packer system and an increase in the number of plunger strokes per cycle.

The BiG Pack VFS now has five tine bars versus six on previous models, which allows for more space for crop capacity. The system operates in five stages to feed the material into the pre-chamber where it compresses before passes to the baling chamber. When the pre-chamber is filled with material the new cam-controlled sensing rake is pushed out of the VFS chamber to produce uniform density bales, even in small or narrow swaths.

The other modification on BiG Pack 1270, 1290 and 1290 HDP machines is a speed up of plunger strokes from 38 per minute to 45. This helps process the increased capacity even more.
