Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers has announced a new unreserved public auction in Saskatoon, Sask., Dec. 3, 2013. The auction includes a wide range of farm equipment including 125-plus combines, more than 80 farm tractors, more than 55 headers, 40 swathers and more.

Each item is to be sold without minimum bids or reserve prices and if you can't make it to Saskatoon, you can bid online at www.rbauction.com, and by proxy.

In a press statement announcing the auction, Jordan Clarke, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, notes: "Our December auction…is a great time for farmers to capitalize on a tremendous 2013 harvest season by buying equipment now that they'll need next year." In addition to the farm equipment, Clarke points out that they will also be selling a 2010 Terex Magnum 275 TPH portable counter flow asphalt batch plant, which is a first at this auction site.

More than 1,400 pieces of equipment will be on auction including:

  • Eight John Deere 4940 120-ft high clearance sprayers (two 2013 models & six 2012 models)

  • Six 2012 John Deere S690 combines

  • Five 2013 MacDon M155 40-ft swathers

  • Five New Holland CR8090 combines (three 2013 models & two 2012 models)

  • Four John Deere 9560RT track tractors (two 2013 models & two 2012 models)

  • Two 2013 Seed Hawk 8412 84-ft air drills

Equipment for the auction is being sold for multiple owners, including John Deere equipment dealer, JayDee AgTech, and P&C Ag Ventures Ltd./K&C Farms Ltd., which farms more than 22,000 acres in the province.  Travis Moberg, remarketing manager, JayDee AgTech, says that most of the combines "we have in the auction have had full greenlights - our technicians have brought them back up to factory specs so they are ready to go straight to work."

Update

The Dec. 3 auction raked in $40 million and attracted more than 4,350 bidders from 27 countries.

"To the best of our knowledge, this was the world's largest one-day agriculture equipment auction. Saskatoon has quickly become the agricultural hub of the Ritchie Bros. auction network," Clarke said.

More than $18 million in items was sold to online bidders, and 2,550 unique online bidders participated in the auction. More than 1,500 lots were sold.
