Nearly one-third of the world’s population depends on what are often called “smallholder farms” for their food and for their livelihoods. What happens on those farms may help determine long-term food security, according to Syngenta CEO Michael Mack. Mack talked about smallholder farms and efforts to help them in a speech at the World Food Prize Symposium in Des Moines, Iowa.
