No Beaches Have Been Closed Due to Ethanol Spills

I’m often impressed by bumper stickers. They often speak volumes in a space of just 12 inches. While I don't think it has created bumper stickers just yet, Growth Energy (www.growthenergy.org) has launched a powerful pro-ethanol campaign featuring six short, but thought-provoking messages. Consider these three, for example:

No wars have ever been fought over ethanol . . . Ethanol—America’s Peace Fuel; or

Ethanol has contributed $0 to the governments of Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela . . . Ethanol—America’s Sensible Fuel; and

No beaches have been closed due to ethanol spills . . . Ethanol—America’s Clean Fuel

This last one should hit home as we see the disturbing images of people whose livelihoods have been destroyed and wildlife that has been sickened or died from the ever-expanding BP oil spill on the nightly news.

Maybe these messages can get more people to think hard about alternatives to oil, and support policymakers and investors who are seriously looking at clean, renewable fuels.

Growth Energy’s messages are appearing on You Tube (www.youtube.com/growthenergy?/youtube) as well as on Fox, MSNBC, CNN and HLN now and in the next several months. Growth Energy also is placing the messages at Capitol South Metro, the closest stop to the U.S. Capitol and the offices of the U.S. House of Representatives. Good placement.

Are you strongly pro-ethanol or pro-biodiesel? Can you convey their benefits in 10 words or less? Please send them to me. Maybe we can get a grass roots movement rolling!
