What's next for row-crop planters? Tom Evans with Great Plains Manufacturing and Austin Gruel with John Deere discuss features of their latest row-crop planters. Both were speakers at a Farm Industry News seminar on row-crop planters held during the 2012 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky.

Evans says farmers are interested in automatic swath control on planters. He also sees great interest in automated row-unit down-pressure.

Gruel reports John Deere is introducing Seed Star XP that will offer operators more information. Customers also are very interested in managing down-force pressure. Deere is offering an active pneumatic down-force feature.
