The number of new exhibitors at New York Farm Show continues to grow. This year, 10 new exhibitors will be showing their products and services, from new seed options to metal roofing and siding panels, and financial management options:

Premier Metal Supply, D-0648. Premier Metal Supply is a family-owned business in central New York. They custom-make all their metal roofing and siding panels, trim, and metal soffit in their shop in Moravia. They use quality North American steel and Sherwin Williams paint that carries a 40-year warranty.

Rupp Seeds, CP-173. Rupp Seeds is a family-owned company in Wauseon, Ohio, that has been serving growers for 75 years — from asparagus to zucchini and everything in between, for professional growers of any size. With more than 1,000 vegetable varieties from all the major breeders, Rupp Seeds is uniquely able to help farm families feed their friends and neighbors at home and around the world.

Specialist Nutrition, D-0603. Specialist Nutrition Animal Feed Solutions is an experienced animal feeds company supplying a comprehensive range of high-quality feeds to progressive dairy and beef farmers. They have an on-staff animal nutritionist who can advise both farmers and nutritionists on how moist and liquid feeds fit into an animal’s dietary system, as well as on storing and preserving feeds. Their growing product range reflects the increasing requirement for high-performance nutrition products for farmers, such as brewers grains, candy meal and chocolate feed, corn gluten feed pellets, and molasses.

Editor, American Agriculturist

Chris Torres, editor of American Agriculturist, previously worked at Lancaster Farming, where he started in 2006 as a staff writer and later became regional editor. Torres is a seven-time winner of the Keystone Press Awards, handed out by the Pennsylvania Press Association, and he is a Pennsylvania State University graduate.

Torres says he wants American Agriculturist to be farmers' "go-to product, continuing the legacy and high standard (former American Agriculturist editor) John Vogel has set." Torres succeeds Vogel, who retired after 47 years with Farm Progress and its related publications.

"The news business is a challenging job," Torres says. "It makes you think outside your small box, and you have to formulate what the reader wants to see from the overall product. It's rewarding to see a nice product in the end."

Torres' family is based in Lebanon County, Pa. His wife grew up on a small farm in Berks County, Pa., where they raised corn, soybeans, feeder cattle and more. Torres and his wife are parents to three young boys.
