New outdoors column starts this issue

WAYNE CAPOOTH — outdoorsman, writer, and physician — will write an outdoors column that will appear in Delta Farm Press every other week.

“We're pleased to have Wayne share his experiences with our thousands of readers who are outdoors enthusiasts,” said Hembree Brandon, Farm Press editorial director.

Capooth, who was All-Memphis in football, basketball, and baseball and was voted “Outstanding Athlete of the Year” in 1962, went to Alabama on a football scholarship, playing under the legendary Paul “Bear” Bryant.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical School, he served in the Air Force as a flight surgeon. He was an emergency physician for over 30 years, and in 2002 became medical director at the University of Memphis Student Health Services.

Capooth is married to Roseanna Pimentel, a clinical psychologist, and they have two sons, Bryan, 25, and Chad, 21.

He has been on two missionary trips to the Dominican Republic and Honduras, and has written four books: The History of the Millsaps Family, Red Letter Days, The Golden Age of Waterfowling, and The Golden Age of Hunting.
