New Deere tractors define productivity

With the new 9020 and 9020T Tractors, John Deere has introduced the most complete line of four-wheel-drive and large track tractors in its history. Five new four-wheel-drive models, ranging from 280 to 450 engine horsepower, and three large track models, ranging from 375 to 450 engine horsepower, offer customers a broad range of horsepower choices.

John Deere PowerTech Engines, 8.1 liter in the 9120 and 12.5 liter in the 9220-9520 Tractors, have been designed to meet Tier II emission standards.

They feature new electronic unit injectors (EUI's) that allow higher fuel injection pressures for improved performance with lower emissions.

The 9020 Tractors feature three transmission options, including an all-new 18-speed PowerShift Transmission. This new state-of-the-art transmission has 18 forward speeds and six reverse speeds, and brings unsurpassed shift quality under all load conditions. The new transmission is designed with 10 gears between three and eight mph (field working speeds) giving the operator many choices to maintain efficiency and productivity in the field.

Automatic PowerShift (APS) is a standard feature on the new transmission, and it automatically shifts up or down depending on field conditions. Once programmed by the operator, APS optimizes tractor field performance by automatically selecting the best gear to maintain efficient and productive operation.

The 18-Speed PowerShift is optional on the 9120 through 9420 Tractors and standard on the 9520 and 9520T Tractors.

Two other transmissions are also available on the 9020 Tractors, the 12-Speed Syncor and the 24-Speed Powr-Sync. There are four shift ranges on the 12-Speed Syncro transmission, and the operator has three forward, on-the-go, clash-free shifts within each range.

Overall operator comfort is improved in the 9020 Tractors. A new CommandARM module features four push-button SCV controls that are located on the front of the armrest. New individual covers on the controls prevent unintentional movement of SCV controls.

The 9020 Series Tractors are equipped with GreenStar Ready wiring harness and implement connector. This allows convenient hook-ups with the high tech components offered by John Deere Ag Management Solutions (AMS) such as parallel tracking, global positioning systems, and data information gathering systems.

Other convenient features added to the new tractors include an enlarged entry/exit platform, a lockable fuel cap, and a fourth step for easier access to the cab. Larger wheels and tires have also been added to base equipment to better match the increased horsepower of the new tractors.

Adding to their strength and durability, the wheeled 9020 Tractors feature inboard planetary final drives with bar axles for a wide range of tread settings. An axle lubrication system has pressurized, cooled, and filtered oil for greater component reliability and service life. Power differential lock is optional on all tractors.

8020 Series

Bringing high technology down to earth, the new John Deere 8020 Series Tractors offer exclusive features to help customers become more productive in the field. More power to the ground, more comfort in the cab, faster transport and field speeds, and more overall productivity improvements highlight the features of these new workhorses.

“Five wheel models and five track models make up the 8020 Series family with horsepower ranging from 170 to 255 PTO horsepower,” says Dave Gilmore, Division Manager, marketing, Waterloo Tractor Works.

Improvements in the 8020 Series Automatic Powershift Transmission increase operator productivity with faster transport speeds, up to 26 mph on wheeled tractors and 19.8 mph on track tractors. Maximum engine rpm during transport has been reduced, resulting in lower fuel usage and decreased noise.

Depending on the model, speeds are increased from three to eight mph in the popular working range to make operators more productive on a daily basis. A slower first gear on all models allows more flexibility when working in specialty applications.

New technology has been put to use with practical application to make the 8020 Series Tractors the most productive machines John Deere has ever produced. Increased horsepower, better traction and stability to get the power to the ground, faster field and transport speeds, more operator comfort, and better visibility and lighting are just some of the features that make these tractors the best value in the market today.

John Deere 6020

John Deere is also introducing the 6020 Series Tractors.

New technology, customer convenience and comfort, configurations and options for specialty markets, and overall tractor performance are the hallmarks of the 6020 Series tractors, which range from 65 to 90 PTO horsepower.

6003 Series

Also new are two models that comprise the 6003 Series line-up, the 85 horsepower 6403 with 4.5 L PowerTech engine and the 95 horsepower 6603 with 6.8L PowerTech engine. These John Deere designed engines meet the new emissions requirements while retaining excellent fuel economy.

The tractors also have a nine-forward/three-reverse speed synchronized transmission with easy-shifting features that customers will appreciate. The top-shaft synchronized (TSS) transmission is designed for easy speed and direction shifting on-the-go (with the use of a clutch), and is built for years of reliable service.

The operator platform on these tractors is spacious and uncluttered and allows easy access to all color-coded controls.
