New from the 2002 Sunbelt Ag Expo

This year the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition was the place to look for a new imported utility tractor. More than 1,100 companies brought their newest equipment, which included a large number of imported utility tractors, to Moultrie, GA, for the annual show.

Here are just a few of the tractors and some other ag equipment exhibited there.

  1. New Mahindra tractors

    Mahindra USA recently added two compact utility tractors to its product line that is manufactured in India by the parent company Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the world's largest tractor manufacturers. The C-35 model (shown) features a 35-hp diesel, watercooled engine. The 2-wd vehicle includes 3-pt. hitch, foldable ROPS and 28 hp on the PTO. It retails for $11,875. The C-27 model features 27 hp from the engine and a PTO with 22 hp. It retails for $10,625. Contact Mahindra USA Inc., Dept.   2. New Kioti model

    Kioti extends its line of utility tractors with the newly designed CK20. The model features a new hood and fender design, 51-hp diesel engine and a hydrostatic transmission with high/low ranges. The tractor, manufactured in South Korea, travels 10 mph. Its front-end loader is operated with a single-lever joystick. The CK20 with gears retails for $10,900.   3. Updated design

    Manufactured in India, the Eicher 485 tractor boasts an updated design, more driver comforts and added features. The Eicher 485 with 51 hp offers a new hood design, more foot room, a hydraulic release valve and stronger lift arms on the 2-pt. hitch. Other features include power steering, a low-maintenance engine, dual clutch and wet disc brakes. It retails for $13,400. Contact Ag Equipment, Dept.   4. Made in South Korea

    Long Agribusiness exhibited five new models of utility tractors manufactured in South Korea.

    The FarmTrac 35, 70 and 80 feature 2-wd, and the LandTrac 330 and 390 models feature hydrostatic transmissions and 4-wd. The FarmTrac 35 has 35 hp and sells for less than $10,000. The 60-hp, 3-cyl. FarmTrac 70 (shown) retails for $17,986. The FarmTrac 80 with 72 hp, 4 cyl. and low emissions sells for $20,986. All of these models boast a 540-rpm independent PTO, twin spool valves operated by a joystick and a 5,200-lb. lift capacity.

    The LandTrac 330 and 390 models feature hydrostatic transmissions with 35 hp and 39 hp, respectively. Suggested retail prices are $16,212 and $17,860.

  5. High-tech tractors

    Same Deutz-Fahr has added to its Agrotron line of high-tech and high-horsepower tractors with three new models: the 110, 135 and 165. These join the 120 and 150 (shown) introduced earlier. The 110 model features 121 hp, the 135 has 155 hp, and the 165 has 180 hp. They all offer auto activating/deactivating 4-wd and rear differential locking, a state-of-the-art cab, and push-button hydraulic forward/reverse shuttle. A front 3-pt. hitch and PTO are optional.   6. Easy driving

    Tafe is selling two new hydrostatic tractors manufactured in South Korea. The 3600 HST model (shown) with 39 hp features a 4-cyl. Mitsubishi engine. The 3300 HST model has 35 hp and a 3-cyl. Daedong engine. Both models feature an independent PTO, wet disc brakes and remote hydraulics. List price for the 3300 HST is $15,900, and the 3600 HST lists for $17,200.   7. Utility work

    After three years of building utility vehicles, Broyhill Company now makes a model geared to the farm. The new TerraSport utility vehicle is powered by a 16-hp Briggs and Stratton gas engine and will reach 20 mph with its continuously variable transmission. It will hold 1,000 lbs. in the cargo box. The vehicle may be purchased with steel or wood boxes, both with removable sides to convert to a flatbed. Also available is a mid-mounted toolbox. Price: $8,995. Contact Broyhill Co., Dept.   8. Extended Club Car

    The Pioneer extended the frame of its Club Car to handle more passengers and cargo. The new 1200 SE model features a rear bench seat plus a cargo box. A 400cc Kawasaki engine powers the utility vehicle that is rated with a 1,300-lb. capacity, including 500 lbs. in the cargo bed. This model also includes the aluminum I-beam frame, chassis and cargo box construction used in the other Pioneer Club Car model. Price: $8,995. Contact Club Car Inc., Dept.   9. Infrared heating

    This winter when you're working on your tractor in the cold, fire up the infrared oil heater Val 6 to keep warm. The Val 6 heater is recommended for outdoor use because its heating ability is hardly affected by wind, unlike with forced-air heaters. The heater is odorless and smokeless and radiates heat only forward. It will start up or shut off in seconds and reaches peak efficiency in a couple of minutes. Price: $1,595. Contact A.C.E.   10. Electric fencing

    Consider the new Tensulator from Tru-Test when you need to build or repair electric fence. The device insulates, joins and tightens monofilament fencing and anchors it to an end post. Easy to use with no bending or twisting of wires, the Tensulator can be tensioned and re-tensioned. It is a glass-filled nylon case with stainless steel springs and ceramic rollers.   11. Easy post driver/puller

    The job of driving or pulling any height T-post will be easier with the new Post Mate than with the use of traditional methods. The new device easily attaches to the side of a post and can be used to drive, reposition or pull the post. The Post Mate also keeps the driver out of existing fence, wire or plants.   12. Cutting steep banks

    The new flail-type mowers from Kuhn easily handle banks, ditches and roadsides. The verge and bank shredder will work in rear or side positions, pivoting 90° up and 65° down for cutting steep embankments. The TB 181 model has a cutting width of 5 ft. 11 in. and retails for $7,075. The TB 211 retails for $7,410 and cuts a swath 6 ft. 11 in. wide.   13. Case IH mowers

    The new MDX disc mowers from Case IH will handle tough cutting conditions, including irregular terrain and thick, wet grasses. The mowers use a modular cutterbar design for better lubrication of individual modules and to prevent damage to an entire cutterbar. The knives are easily replaced, and a cantilevered canopy design provides no restriction to crop flow. The mowers come in three models: the MDX71 with a cutting width of 6 ft. 8 in. retails for $6,429; the MDX81 with a 7-ft. 10-in. cutting width retails for $7,386; and the MDX91 (shown) with a 9-ft. 2-in. cutting width retails for $8,108.   14. Fertilizer spreader

    If you're looking for a new row-crop fertilizer/lime spreader, check out Newton Crouch's newest spreader, model 49. The 9-ft., pull-type model offers medium clearance and holds 172 cu. ft. The hull is constructed of 304 stainless steel, and the frame is powder-coated for durability and low maintenance.
