Dakota Digest: Midwest Dairy, State Conservation Commission and more make personnel announcements.

LIVESTOCK LEADERS: A dairy calf looks up its bed of straw. Midwest Dairy has a new slate of leaders, which includes farmers from South Dakota and North Dakota.

The newly elected executive officers of the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council are: Chairman Terry Wehlander, DeLamere; Vice Chairman Jason Rayner, Finley; and Secretary/Treasurer Scott German, Oakes. New NDCUC board members are Tysen Rosenau, Carrington, and William Wagner, Neche. The NDCUC oversees how North Dakota’s corn checkoff dollars are spent on research, education, and promotion of corn and corn products.

Three named to State Conservation Commission
South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard appointed Gene Williams, Interior; Michael Konechne, White Lake; and Thomas Glover, Burke, to the State Conservation Commission.

Dairy producers elected
Allen Merrill, Parker, S.D., has been re-elected chairman of Midwest Dairy. New members elected by their Divisions to the Midwest Dairy Corporate board include Rita Mosset, Linton, N.D.; and Annelies Seffrood, Summit, S.D. Janal Hoff, Richardton, N.D., is a new member of the North Dakota Division board.

Conley named to National Bison Association position
Karen Conley, Box Elder, S.D., has been named director of communication and outreach for the National Bison Association. Conley is the former executive director of the Dakota Territory Buffalo Association. She served on the NBA board of directors for five years, first as a director for her region and the last two years as the secretary/treasurer.
