POLAND ANGUS: Anita and Richard Poland of Isabel, Kan., are one of six farm families honored in the 2022 Class of Kansas Master Farmers and Master Homemakers. The Polands started their ranch in 1976, moving to the farm Richard’s grandparents first purchased in 1928. They grew their cow herd from a commercial herd into a registered Angus herd using modern tools and selection data. They have a yearly production sale in this barn built on the ranch headquarters.Jennifer M. Latzke
Richard and Anita Poland of Isabel, Kan., are one of the six couples who have been named to the 2022 Class of Kansas Master Farmers and Farm Homemakers.
The Polands have spent years giving back to the community through their sponsorship of their Poland Angus Ranch Livestock Judging Contest and their work with 4-H and FFA members. Richard was an FFA advisor at Medicine Lodge High School for many years, and Anita was a registered nurse with Barber County Public Health. The family also participates in the semiannual Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty Pageant and donates their time to their church.
