Cattlemen, cattlewomen and cattle industry members gathered Dec. 9-10 at the Willmar (Minn.) Conference Center for the 2022 Minnesota Cattle Industry Convention. Newly elected Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association and Minnesota CattleWomen leaders were announced at the event.
Mark Pankonin of Lamberton will serve as president of MSCA.
“I’m excited to serve during such a prosperous time for the cattle industry,” Pankonin said. “We are still dealing with drought relief issues and wolf depredation, and will be keeping an eye on the farm bill in 2023.”
Pankonin succeeds Grant Breitkreutz of Redwood Falls as MSCA president. Breitkreutz will now serve as immediate past president of the association.
The MSCA executive committee for 2022-23 includes Jake Thompson, Barnesville, as president-elect; Rachel Gray, Blackduck, as vice president; Angie Ford, Lake Wilson, as membership chair; Krist Wollum, Porter, as legislative chair; and Kevin Hoge, Aitkin, as secretary.
The MSCA newly elected leadership team also includes Josiah Ebeling, Trimont, as feeder council chairman, and Eric Zeltwanger, Morris, as cow-calf council chairman.
Regional directors are Ben Kleinwachter, Strandquist, Region 1; Eric Mousel, Jacobson, Region 2-3; Mark Schoenfeld, Dawson, Region 4; Ralph Hanneken, Royalton, Region 5; Jeff Stobb, Milaca, Region 6; Tom Salentiny, Fulda, Region 7; Jessica Lambrecht, LeCenter, Region 8; and Amanda Armstrong, Owatonna, Region 9.
The Minnesota CattleWomen’s Association will be led by the following board members for 2023: President Michelle Mouser, Tenstrike; President elect Rosemary Gustafson, Puposky; Vice President Amanda Armstrong, Owatonna; treasurer Leah Pederson, Barnum; secretary Shannon Hackett, Sauk Rapids; and past President Jennifer Schiefelbein, Kimball.
