More hay in a day

New Holland's presence in hay country gets another boost with new machines from tractors to mowers. Updated performance and features promise to help growers make more hay in a day.

TS-A series tractors

Ranging from 80 to 155 hp, the TS-A series tractors include three open-deck ROPS models and four with all-weather cabs. All are designed with outstanding visibility for use as a loader tractor or for pulling a mower, baler or other moderate-sized implement.

Six-cylinder engines (4-cyl. on the TS100A) provide dependable power. Electronic power management on the two larger models provides a power boost of up to 25 hp to maintain rated PTO horsepower during difficult crop conditions or terrain.

Several transmissions are available, including a 12 × 12 synchro command transmission with mechanical shuttle (TS100A and TS115A only); a 24 × 24 dual command transmission with power shuttle; a 16 × 16 electroshift with power shuttle (TS100A and TS115A only); or a 16 × 16 autoshift transmission with power shuttle and programmable shift points. All transmissions use a dedicated, column-mounted, left-hand shuttle lever, and all are available with creeper speeds.

A 9,285-lb., 3-pt. lift capacity (9,620 lbs. on deluxe cab models, 12,185 lbs. for TS135A models) allows the TS models to handle larger implements than most tractors of this size.

Axle choices are 2-wd, front wheel drive (fwd), or one of two additional fwd axle options on Deluxe models. The New Holland SuperSteer fwd axle makes maneuvering in tight quarters easier and shortens travel distance on headland turns. Prices range from $37,169 to $81,451. Circle 213.

Speedrower self-propelled windrowers

These 6-cyl.-engine windrowers range from 98 to 225 hp and feature an electronic fuel management system that delivers high torque and reserve power to drive the disc, sickle and draper heads.

High-performance features include two-range transmissions, header reverser and 10 exterior lighting systems.

Head options include high-speed Discbine models with either 12 or 14 discs. Draper heads provide high-capacity swathing in five widths, ranging from 18 to 36 ft. All header sizes offer the choice of single- or double-sickle drive. Prices range from $46,011 to $73,821. Circle 214.

Disc mower-conditioners

New Holland's new Discbine disc mower-conditioners offer a choice of conditioning methods. Model 1409 features chevron-design, intermeshing rubber rolls for consistent, gentle and thorough conditioning. For crops that need more aggressive conditioning, the 1410 features 90 tapered flails.

The knives on the cutterbar travel at 3,000 rpm to slice through thick, wet crops, fire ant hills or gopher mounds. A high-density polyethylene impact hood liner reduces rock damage. The price of the 1409 is $19,417, and the 1410 costs $19,614. Circle 215.
