Monsanto research manager killed in auto crash

Shannon T. Alston, 29, of Rockdale, Texas, an agronomic research manger for Monsanto, was killed in an automobile accident in late December.

He is survived by his wife Tracy and a two-year old daughter, Riley.

“Monsanto and others affiliated with the ag industry in the Southwest experienced the loss of a friend and co-worker,” a Monsanto representative said.

“Shannon's life was dedicated to being a great father and husband, a loyal Texas A&M Aggie, and a leader in agriculture. We are saddened by his loss and ask that you keep his family in your thoughts during their time of loss. We will all miss him dearly.”

Shannon had focused on product advancements for Monsanto in Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Contributions are being accepted to secure a trust for Riley Alston's college education. Donations may be sent to:

Riley Alston College Fund
c/o Rockdale Federal Credit Union
1525 West Cameron,
Rockdale, TX 76567

The family requests that any contribution be accompanied by a note that identifies the donor so they may express their gratitude.
