Halpin wins iPad Mini from Western Farm Press-Penton CEU program

Halpin wins iPad Mini from Western Farm Press-Penton CEU program

Adrien Halpin of Napa, Calif. shows off his free Apple iPad Mini tablet, courtesy of Western Farm Press-Penton’s Continuing Education Unit (CEU) program.

Adrien Halpin is the winner of a brand new Apple iPad Mini from Western Farm Press-Penton’s Continuing Education Unit (CEU) program, available online 24-hours-a-day at

The free iPad Mini was the prize in a year-end special promotion for those who signed up and successful completed a Farm Press CEU course between the 2014 California Association of Pest Control Advisers Association (CAPCA) annual meeting last October through Dec. 31, according to CEU Administrator Cheryl Ogle.

The Western Farm Press-Penton CEU course program was launched 11 years ago by WFP Editor Harry Cline. Since the program began, about 11,500 pest control advisers and others have completed about 84,000 courses.

Seventeen courses are currently available – 15 are free.

Winner Halpin is an enologist at Odette Estate Winery in Napa, Calif. He has completed six Farm Press courses and gives the CEU program high kudos.

“I like the CEU program since many of the courses are free,” said Halpin, a native of Leucadia, Calif.

“I appreciate the convenience of taking courses when I have the time available in a quiet place,” Halpin added. “This allows me to focus on work during harvest while still completing CEUs to renew my qualified applicator certificate.”

Since receiving the iPad Mini, Halpin uses the state-of-the-art tablet to communicate with others in day-to-day business activities. During his personal time, he uses the iPad to strategize for his fantasy football league.

The enologist completed the CEU course “The ABCs of MRLs” - sponsored by DuPont Crop Protection - to qualify for the drawing.

“The iPad Mini giveaway is just one way that we can thank those who take the Farm Press-Penton Agriculture CEU courses,” Ogle said. “We want to provide participants with a great tool to help them be successful.”

The 2013 iPad Mini giveaway winner was California tree nut and fruit grower Michael Marshall of Lincoln.
