Michael Adams Mississippian will lead CCI in 2007

Michael M. Adams, a Greenwood, Miss., cotton cooperative official, will serve as 2007 president of Cotton Council International (CCI). He was elected during CCI's board of directors meeting in Austin, Texas, and succeeds David L. Burns, a Laurel Hill, N.C., producer who becomes CCI board chairman.

Adams has served as director of Export Sales for Staple Cotton Cooperative Association since 1986 when he joined the firm. He has responsibility for international cotton sales outside North America. A delegate to the National Cotton Council, he is a graduate of the NCC Cotton Leadership Program. Adams is a graduate of California State University at Fresno.

Other CCI officers elected for 2007 are: first vice president, Robert S. Weil II, merchant from Montgomery, Ala.; second vice president, Clyde T. Sharp, producer, Roll, Ariz.; and treasurer, Wallace L. Darneille, cooperative, Lubbock, Texas. Mark D. Lange of Memphis, Tenn., was re-elected secretary and Allen A. Terhaar of Washington, D.C., was re-elected assistant secretary.

CCI elected five new directors for 2007: Donald J. Cameron, producer, Helm, Calif.; Dahlen K. Hancock, producer, New Home, Texas; Jack Dailey, producer, Ft. Necessity, La.; Clark Carter, ginner, Rolling Fork, Miss.; and Gerald C. Marshall, merchant, Cordova, Tenn.
