Max Armstrong tells us it's going to be a high travel weekend. It's Memorial Day weekend and people are getting away. It's estimated to be the third heaviest traveled weekend since 2000.

Plus, there is a growing concern over a possible drought in the Heartland this growing season. The USDA predicts a big crop this season and there is a weather premium in the markets due to the recent dry conditions.. However, the area is experiencing it's second dry patch this week in the past 11 years.

And Union-Pacific locomotive engineers have reached a new union contract. It still needs ratified, but if done will require 11 days on for work and 4 days off. The contract would cover 5,600 employees.

Plus, Max Armstrong reminds us this is lightning season and shares a story about it's possible effects.

Max Armstrong's Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
