Max Armstrong is continuing to share stories of his travels this week.

In this episode, he tells us about five days he spent on tugboat behind a grain barge on the Mississippi River.

His adventure was on a 200 feet long tugboat that included 35 barges of grain.

He describes how the engine noise on the Sally Archer was deafening without ear protection.

But what he was enjoying was the peace he had while sitting in a lawn chair while they trolled down the river.

Max Armstrong goes on to talk about the crew which included Mildred-- the cook who was retiring after the trip.

And the captain who had no hands but was able to control the massive tug boat and had a small margin of error when traveling through the channels.

Max Armstrong's Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
