Max Armstrong reports on a study by North Carolina State University looking at crop insurance and the interrelation to rising temperatures. Max shares that a model the university developed shows that in counties with high participation in crop insurance, yield variability in rising temperatures was higher than in counties with low crop insurance variability. The message? Crop insurance may discourage farmer use of climate mitigation strategies like cover crops and reduced tillage.
