Max Armstrong continues his conversation about the growth of the conservation movement ahead of the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. He tells the story of Hugh Hammond Bennett who wrote in the 1920s about the value of soil and the challenge of soil erosion. The Dust Bowl rose awareness of the dangers of soil erosion. Bennett became the first head of the Soil Conservation Service, which became the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
