California’s Raisin Bargaining Association (RBA) announced the price of 2014 Zante Currant raisins at $1,900 per ton ($0.95 per pound).

The formula includes a container rental of $21 and minimum transportation of $15.

The overall price is identical to last year with adjustments in the formula.

World supply of Zante Currant raisins was bolstered by an above-average yield in Greece, the largest producer of Zante Currants.

According to RBA Chief Executive Officer Glen Goto, California’s exports were challenged by this world supply. The recent West Coast ports work stoppage also impacted several key months of shipments.

Goto said California raisin growers will need to see a continued boost in the price of Zante Currants to justify production of their high quality raisins.
