It’s not a surprise to see over one third of the corn crop is considered mature this week.

Corn condition

The latest crop condition report shows 68% of the corn crop is in good/excellent condition. Last week, the report showed 67% was in good/excellent condition.

Here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five corn producing states: Iowa (73%), Illinois (77%), Nebraska (82%), Minnesota (76%), Kansas (46%). 

 

Soybean condition

According to this week’s crop progress report, 68% of the soybean crop is in good/excellent condition. That’s up two points from last week’s 66%.

This week, here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five soybean producing states: Illinois (79%), Iowa (72%), Minnesota (71%), Nebraska (82%), North Dakota (53%). 

 

Corn dented

Producers are reporting 86% of their corn crop is in the dented stage. That’s up from the four -year average of 75%.

 

Corn maturity

The crop progress report shows 35% of the corn planted this spring is now mature. That’s up from the four-year average of 21%.

 

Corn harvest

Although the crop is ahead in maturity. It doesn’t appear, producers are rushing to the fields. The report shows 5% of the corn crop has been harvested. That’s a little above the 3%-- four-year average. However, it’s the same amount as last year.

 

Soybean dropping leaves

The crop progress report shows 31% of the soybeans planted are dropping their leaves. That’s up from the four-year average of 31%. The report showed 16% of the soybeans were dropping their leaves.
