The Minnesota Beef Council recently gave its 2019 Prime Promoter of the Year award to Blondie’s Butcher Shop of Wanamingo.
The award is presented to an organization, club or business that shows outstanding promotion of beef to consumers throughout the year.
Blondie’s Butcher Shop was purchased by owner Lindsay Fulton and her family in 2015. Today, it is recognized as a pink-painted, full-on custom meat processing plant with retail offerings and a full line of catering.
Fulton prides herself in being active in the community to promote beef throughout the year, according to Minnesota Beef. Her favorite beef promotion in 2019 was selling beef bundles for a local high school volleyball team. The holiday beef bundle packages included prime rib, steaks, hamburger and beef sticks. The new fundraiser was a success and seen as a valuable opportunity for allowing local community members to sponsor both the volleyball team and the butcher shop.
Blondie’s Butcher Shop is known for its aged beef products that are offered for promotions and events, specifically aged tenderloins and prime ribs. The shop processes more than 1,500 head of beef each year for customers. The retail side of the business continues to grow each quarter, and the catering side serves more than 500 beef meals to customers annually.
“We are honored to be presented with this award and continue beef promotions. We value our relationship with our community and the Minnesota Beef Council,” Fulton says.
Blondie’s Butcher Shop received a $500 award to be used for beef promotions throughout the coming year as well as an engraved plaque.
