Two $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who attend a four-year university to major in an agricultural field. The scholarships will be disbursed over four years at $2,500 per year, per student.

"Last year's program brought in 34 applicants," said Vester East, E.M. Tharp, Inc. "The list of applicants was narrowed to 10 finalists and, after meeting with all of the candidates, the two winners were selected."

The E.M. Tharp scholarship currently supports eight students, four attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and four attending California State University, Fresno. "Casey Tharp created the foundation for today's scholarships," East explained. "Giving back to Valley communities by assisting agricultural students has been an important goal for E.M. Tharp Inc. We are proud to be a part of the program and, even in these economic times, E.M. Tharp is moving forward with our promise to students."

For scholarship consideration, students must submit two letters of recommendation, one copy of their high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores by Friday, Jan. 14. Scholarship applications can be downloaded at www.worldagexpo.com/General-Info/EM-Tharp-Scholarship.htm. Please send completed applications to International Agri-Center, Inc.
