The specialists and staff at the UC Davis Postharvest Technology Center are pleased to introduce their fresh, new look.  They have officially changed their name to the Postharvest Technology Center and have launched a newly redesigned website and updated logo.  In addition to their new look, they are proud to announce that the Postharvest Technology Center is now recognized as an official Center of the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, in addition to their ongoing affiliation with the Department of Plant Sciences.

While they have introduced a fresh look, they have maintained the features that have made their Center the “go to” site for postharvest information and training, including an outstanding team of experts, and great information.  They encourage visitors to peruse their educational offerings under the Education & Workshops tab on the home page.  Their courses have been very popular and highly subscribed for more than thirty years.

Where a difference is really noticeable is in their beautiful, newly redesigned web site, which features much easier navigation and accessibility, many more photographs, and a wider format. With the Postharvest Technology Center’s website getting 3 million hits a year, they wanted to maintain familiar navigation; so regular users should find all their old favorites in no time.  With a Postharvest library of over 1800 publications and an updated search feature, users are sure to find the information they are looking for quickly.

One of the most popular features of the web site, Produce Facts, includes recommendations for maintaining postharvest quality of individual commodities.  Produce Fact Sheets, as they are now called, are available in English, Spanish, French and Arabic, and accessible with two easy clicks from the home page.  The related photo album is available on from the first page of each of the 142 commodities.

The web site offers easy navigation to two social media features:  a link to the postharvest blog and an opportunity to follow the Center on Twitter.

Whether a seasoned user or new to the Center’s website, visitors are encouraged to explore the site and its wealth of information.  Comments are always welcome, using the handy link on the left navigation bar.
