TPPA annual conference features cotton and grain updates, new technology

The 24th annual Texas Plant Protection Association conference “provided a lot of information for farmers and the agricultural industry,” says Vernon Langston, TPPA president.

Langston, with Dow AgroSciences, said attendance for the 2012 conference was up from last year, despite the second devastating drought in a row. Providing meaningful information, he says, is one reason for participation. “Our theme this year was Facing Ag’s Future,” Langston says. “We try to give farmers some idea of the tools they have available to be more productive.

The annual conference included a general session that covered legislation, marketing ag commodity sales to Cuba, agricultural communications opportunities, and preparing the next generation of agricultural professionals.

Breakout sessions during the two-day conference included production recommendations and research updates on cotton, grains, forages and turf and ornamental crops.

The conference was held at the Brazos Center in Bryan, Texas.
