Annual conventions and trade shows, farmers and their farms, irrigation and UAVs. Here’s a look at Delta Farm Press’ top-viewed photo galleries in 2014.

10. Families, friends make big day of 2014 Arkansas Rice Expo Over 1,000 people attended the 2014 Arkansas Rice Expo at the Grand Prairie Center in Stuttgart on Aug. 1. Taking advantage of a wide range of activities, many children and families attended. (David Bennett)

9. Bowers use technology to stay ahead of the curve on rice, soybean, corn acreage Improvements in drainage and equipment have enabled Doin and Trey Bowers to greatly expand their corn, rice and soybean operation from a relatively small acreage in Doin’s father’s day to a relatively large block of land today. (Forrest Laws)

8. South Louisiana Rail Facility provides farmers with new markets Photos of the new rice facility is designed to load 40 rail cars in 10 hours with four hopper tanks that provide 156,000 bushels of pre-positioned cargo. (David Bennett)

7. Intermittent showers fail to rain out Delta Council Day Tradition has it that it nevers rains on Delta Council Day, the day the Mississippi Delta's "Chamber of Commerce holds it annual meeting. This year’s 79th annual meeting was a near miss as rain fell when most of the Delta Council members, guests and 140 Delta area high school honor graduates and their parents arrived at the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the Delta State University Campus. (Forrest Laws)

6. Harvest time in Arkansas' Phillips County Thick in harvest season, grain trucks roar around the Delta carrying the year’s ample bounty. There is a bit of extra urgency to get the yields into storage as heavy, grey clouds are quickly rolling in. A few fat raindrops occasionally splash in the thick dust. The weather radar promises a large rain in the next few hours. (David Bennett)

5. Water, dollar savings come to those who wait for proper time to irrigate With seemingly abundant water supplies like those provided by Arkansas’ Mammoth Springs, many can’t understand why anyone would have to irrigate in the five Delta states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. Crop histories show, however, that at some point in almost every season, irrigation would pay dividends in the five-state region. (Forrest Laws)

4. UAV Symposium attracts farmers, consultants, suppliers to Memphis, Tenn., Agricenter One of the best ways to draw a crowd at a farm meeting these days is to schedule a demonstration with an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or UAV. That was the case with the new Delta AgTech Symposium at the Memphis, Tenn., Agricenter. (Forrest Laws)

3. The Warren family: a season of photos Check out photos taken through the recent cropping year by Tasha Warren, who farms with her family in the Arkansas Delta.

2. USA Rice Outlook Conference – 2014 The USA Rice Outlook Conference drew one of its largest crowds in several years to the State House Convention Center in Little Rock, Ark. Attendees heard the U.S. economy is showing signs of improving and that the prospects for more rice acres and slightly higher rice prices in U.S. rice are good in 2015. (Forrest Laws)
