Educational updates, a trade show and networking with Tennessee’s leaders in row crop production will highlight the 2014 Tennessee Grain and Soybean Producers Conference, Feb. 6, in Dyersburg, Tenn.

The conference begins with registration at 7:45 a.m. at the Dyer County Fairgrounds on James Rice Road.

Breakout sessions, beginning at 9 a.m., will focus on precision agriculture, seed treatments, and sprayer demonstrations.

A panel of local farmers and UT Institute of Agriculture researchers will discuss cover crops at 10 a.m.

   Cover crops – an underused key to stewardship

Visitors will meet at 11 a.m. for a report on the newly implemented Commodities for Communities program, followed by a special presentation on trailer safety.

A complimentary lunch will be followed by the conference’s keynote speaker, Dr. Daryll Ray, Blasingame Chair of Excellence in Agricultural Policy from UTIA. Ray will share information on commodity policy, development of analytical models for policy analysis, and deepening the understanding of the structure and nature of the agricultural sector of our economy.

Producers, commercial applicators and certified crop advisors can obtain certification points at the conference.
