The researchers will discuss irrigation management, greenhouse gas emissions, weed management, information on tomato and legume cultivars, pollination ecology and soil microbiology at the UC Davis Russell Ranch Sustainable Agriculture Facility during the 2010 Field Day, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 22.

Russell Ranch, which is part of the Agricultural Sustainability Institute at UC Davis, is seven miles west of the main campus and is home to long-term agriculture studies and provides a living laboratory for students and the sustainable agriculture farming systems project.

Hay wagons will transport participants through the research site to see field presentations — Cooperative Extension specialists, faculty, post-docs and graduate students will present results from their current research projects. The researchers will discuss irrigation management, greenhouse gas emissions, weed management, information on tomato and legume cultivars, pollination ecology and soil microbiology. The day will conclude with a grower panel discussion, traditionally a highlight of the event, and lunch.

Pre-registration for the field day is requested by June 18. The $8 registration fee (free for growers and students) covers the cost of a local, seasonal lunch and refreshments.
