Farmers from across the Carolinas will gather in Florence, S.C. Jan. 14 – 15 for the SC AgriBiz & Farm Expo, which was established as an umbrella event for all aspects of agriculture and agribusiness, according to Jody Martin, the expo’s president and CEO.

The two-day event is set for the Florence Civic Center. Trade show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14 and Thursday, Jan. 15. General admission is $5 at the door and no registration is required.

“We’re looking forward to another successful show this year,” Martin said. The SC AgriBiz and Farm Expo includes a farm show with a wide variety of equipment, farm products and an educational component. This farm show / expo represents all aspect of agriculture large and small.”

Martin said the expo is targeted to meet the needs of farmers in South Carolina and surrounding regions. “It features innovations in agricultural: equipment, education, commodity spotlights, feedstocks, special guest speakers, economic developers, producers, value-added enterprises, youth development, related exhibits, agricultural activities and much more,” he said.

The expo includes more than 130 key agricultural exhibitors. It will also include an SC AgriBiz Youth Day and a South Carolina Agitourism Mini Conference on Wednesday. A small farmer mini-conference is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Breakfast with the Commissioner, South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers will discuss 2015 goals for South Carolina agriculture and the importance of growing future success today with tomorrow’s leaders. In his remarks, Weathers will highlight the South Carolina’s Commissioner’s School for Agriculture (SCCSA) and how the program is helping high school students explore agriculture based majors and careers.

“The expo is designed to deliver education, innovation and connections to farmers and other agribusiness leaders,” Martin said. “Knowledge gained at the expo will help them make decisions for a successful and profitable 2015.”
