Reservoirs could extend Delta's irrigation water – Part 2

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood control reservoirs on the Yazoo River currently hold more water than farmers use for irrigation in a year in the Mississippi Delta. If growers could have access to even a small amount of the releases by the Corps and from other streams, it would help solve the current drawdown problems in the Delta’s alluvial aquifer. Dean Pennington discussed the situation in an interview following his presentation at the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation & Delta Area Young Farmer Emerging Issues Conference in Scott, Miss.
