February 4, 2022

In-person farm shows are back and a big one focused on Eastern farming is set to premier later this month. Meanwhile, USDA's Risk Management Agency has announced flexibility for crop insurance that extends some features until June due to the pandemic.

In this episode of the Around Farm Progress podcast, we dig into both issues. First up is Chris Torres, American Agriculturist, who discusses what visitors can expect for their trip to the New York Farm Show. From a range of new products to special seminars, this is an information-packed event that returns after a break in 2021.

Torres shares where farmers can connect to keep up on the latest information – the New York Farm Show Facebook page is key – and offers other insights into the 2022 event. Make plans to attend Feb. 24 to 26 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y.

Then we turn our attention to USDA's Risk Management Agency, which made an announcement recently regarding flexibility with crop insurance. Jacqui Fatka, policy editor, caught up with Marcia Bunger, administrator, RMA, to talk about the announcement, which is being driven by the continuing pandemic. Their discussion digs into what's available to farmers.
