Plan to attend Master Farmer program during Indiana Farm Management Tour

Master Farmer banquet reservations are required by June 16.

If you don’t already have June 22-23 marked on your calendar, circle those dates. The Indiana Farm Management Tour, organized by Purdue University’s Ag Economics Department, kicks off at 1 p.m. June 22 in Carroll County, and concludes June 23 at Scott Maple’s farm near Kokomo.

You will also want to block out the evening of June 22 and plan to be at the Wabash and Erie Canal Conference and Interpretive Center in Delphi. New Master Farmers will be honored at the annual Master Farmer banquet and program, held in conjunction with the tour.

You don’t have to attend any stops on the tour to attend the banquet. However, whether you are on the tour or not, you need to make reservations to attend the Master Farmer banquet by June 16. There will be no ticket sales at the door. The Master Farmer program is sponsored by Indiana Prairie Farmer and the Purdue College of Agriculture.

Banquet details
The Master Farmer banquet begins with an informal reception for new recipients and past Master Farmers at 6 p.m. EDT. Dinner begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. Following presentation of awards, a Purdue ag economist will host a panel discussion with all of the new Master Farmers participating. The focus will be on management skills they have implemented in their operations.

The buffet dinner will be catered by Custom Select Catering, notes Donya Lester, director of Purdue Ag Alumni. Lester will host the banquet program. Cost to attend is $25 per adult, $10 for children under 12 and free for children 2 years old or younger.

Advance reservations are required! Find the registration form online. Reservations are due by June 16.
