A seminar titled Organic Production Opportunities is being presented by The Woodland Chapter of the California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) and the Organic Fertilizer Association of California (OFAC) on Thursday, November 19, 2009 in Woodland. The all day seminar will be held at the Woodland Community Center, 2001 East Street, and will feature expert speakers on various organic production topics and a panel of organic growers discussing the role of crop advisers in their operations.

The program is aimed at crop consultants, organic input suppliers/retailers, and organic growers. CEU hours will be offered for PCAs and CCAs. Subjects to be covered include: Certified Organic Farming and Fertilizer; Weed Control; Soil Fertility In Organic Systems; Food Processors; Role of Cover Crops, Disease and Insect Control, The Role of Accredited Certifiers; Almond Production; and Compost Use, plus a panel featuring area organic growers discussing the challenges of fertility and pest control in certified organic production. “Organic production is a very important part of our area’s agriculture and the goal of this seminar is to present practical information that will allow crop advisers and growers produce healthy and profitable certified organic crops”, said Renee Rianda, Woodland CAPCA Chairperson.
