The NorCal chapter of the California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) and the Organic Fertilizer Association of California (OFAC) are sponsoring a seminar entitled Organic Production in Northern California July 8 in Chico, Calif.

The all-day seminar, underwritten by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., will be held at the brewery’s Big Room located at 1075 East 20th St., Chico. It will feature expert speakers on various organic production topics, a panel of organic growers discussing the role of crop advisers in their operations, and Sierra Nevada’s owner and president, Ken Grossman, who will speak at lunch regarding the brewery’s commitment to sustainability and organic farming.

The program is aimed at crop consultants, organic input suppliers/retailers, and organic growers. CEU hours will be offered for PCAs and CCAs. Subjects to be covered include: Almond and Prune Disease Control, Organic Fertilizers and Soil Health, Compost Use, Cover Crops, IPM, Seaweed Use, Managing Soil Fertility, Pasture Management, Weed Control, Role of County Ag Commissioners — plus a panel featuring area organic growers discussing the challenges of fertility and pest control in certified organic production.
