Online pesticide reporting in Arizona

The Arizona Department of Agriculture (ADA) has announced a public-private partnership to help reduce paperwork for farmers, landowners, and the state of Arizona with a new electronic filing system.

ADA has teamed with Agrian Inc. to simplify the paperwork required for the application of pesticides.

Starting now, Arizona filers can begin e-filing the 1080 report directly from Agrian’s widely adopted grower, crop advisor, and applicator Internet-based software products. Filers will no longer have to mail in a paper copy of the 1080 report.

Arizona law requires those who apply pesticides in commercially agriculture to report usage to the state. While the data is important, it’s often difficult for farmers and land owners to submit.

“ADA has always been concerned about the burdens put on the farmer,” said ADA Director Don Butler. “This is just one more example of how we can work together with our partners in the private sector to make life easier for everyone.”

Without any cost to the State of Arizona, ADA provided Agrian with the specific data and format needed and the company created the software.

“Agrian is pleased to develop a tool that with one click of the mouse, streamlines the reporting process for growers, crop advisors, and applicators in the state of Arizona,” said Nishan Majarian, Agrian co-founder and chief executive officer.

State departments and private entities use Form 1080 information for research, investigations, and potential changes in regulations. Developers and the public also review the information.
