The first of two cold fronts passed through the Southeast Wednesday this week, bring a few showers. A second cold front is expected to come through on Friday, bringing even colder temperatures this weekend. 

Temperatures below freezing are predicted for large portions of northern Georgia on Saturday and Sunday mornings, with high temperatures on Saturday reaching only the upper 40s to mid-50s, according to Climate and Agriculture in the Southeast blog, sponsored by University of Georgia.

“If you have tender plants outside, you will need to bring them in or protect them from frost damage.  Some of the more extreme models even suggest that seeing a few snow flurries in eastern Tennessee and northern Alabama and Georgia is possible,” according to the blog.

In Kentucky, weak weather disturbance will bring an increase in clouds and a small chance for light rain showers or sprinkles late Thursday into early Friday. The coldest air of the season will arrive in time for Halloween and the weekend as high pressure builds south from Canada. The end result will likely be the first killing frost and freeze of the season, according to the University of Kentucky Ag Weather Center.
