Growing Organically on the Central Coast is the title of a seminar on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the Veterans Memorial Building in Morro Bay, Calif. The sponsors are the California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) and the Organic Fertilizer Association of California (OFAC) in collaboration with Cal Poly Center for Sustainability.

The seminar which starts at 8:00 a.m. will feature expert speakers on organic production issues and a panel of organic growers discussing the challenge of nutrient and pest management in their operations.

The seminar will feature talks on Weed Control, Integrated Pest Management, Compost Usage, Pesticide Application, Soil Management, Disease Control and other subjects relevant to local organic production. CEU hours will be offered for licensed Pest Control Advisers and Certified Crop Advisers. Also there will table top exhibits by suppliers of services and products to organic growers.

This seminar is part of a continuing series of educational programs on organic production by CAPCA and OFAC. Additional organic production seminars in 2011 are scheduled for:  Modesto – July 28, Tulare – Aug. 18, Etiwanda - Sept. 8, and Cloverdale – Nov. 18.
