Mississippi River's record crest at Caruthersville, Mo. (video)

Mark Holifield, Clay County, Ark., rice farmer, has posted a series of videos showing the record flooding on the Mississippi, Black, Cache and St. Francis rivers.

In Mississippi River Flood Historic Crest, Holifield, standing on Interstate I55 between Caruthersville, Mo., and Dyersburg, Tenn., videoed and commented on the record crest on May 8 — telephone poles broken by the power of the current; the river flowing across the levee into farm fields; and a barge inching upstream against the force of the current.

Another video, Mississippi River Flood 2011 Whirlpool endangers Interstate, was picked No. 1 on The Weather Channel’s Top Five Videos of the day.

Holifield owns 1,200 acres of rice land and as of May 10, 90 percent was still underwater.

More videos on the flooding are available at Holifield’s YouTube channel.
