The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation has joined forces with other farm groups in the state, including the Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board, the Mississippi Rice Promotion Board, the Mississippi Corn Promotion Board, the Mississippi Rice Council, and the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Joint Water Management District, to form a unified initiative to promote the use of specialized water conservation techniques, including the PHAUCET program and other water conservation programs.

Jan Deregt, chair of the Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board, is leading the effort to get producers to commit to enrolling a portion of their farm into PHAUCET. 

“We are encouraging all the farm groups in Mississippi to promote this effort and urge their members to enroll a portion of their farm into PHAUCET," Deregt says.  

"The Soybean Promotion Board has funded research on this program for several years now.  We are seeing tremendous water savings when the PHAUCET program is in place.

"It is important for producers who want to participate in PHAUCET in 2014 to gather and record well capacity information this fall.  If any producer would like to learn more, grower meetings are being planned in many counties this fall and winter."
