Michigan State University Extension and MSU AgBioResearch will host a virtual field day highlighting peach research from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2.

The event will feature video highlights of 2020 stone fruit research trials and presentations from MSU researchers and Extension specialists, followed by time for audience Q&A.

Topics and presenters include:

  • disease resistance, cold hardiness and fruit characteristics of new nectarine and novel peach varieties, with Bill Shane, senior tree fruit specialist, MSU Extension

  • high-density peach/nectarine training systems and rootstocks, with Greg Lang, professor, MSU Department of Horticulture

  • disease resistance, cold hardiness and fruit characteristics of new yellow melting flesh peach varieties, with Bill Shane, senior tree fruit specialist, MSU Extension

“We look forward to helping growers and other members of Michigan’s peach and nectarine industry learn more about the research that supports their work, from developing and evaluating the performance of new varieties and rootstocks to new peach training system concepts suitable for Michigan's environment,” Shane says.
