A UC Davis-produced video about a livestock revolution that may stave off world hunger won top prize from the American Society of Animal Science and will be featured at the society's annual meeting in June.

The video Were Those the Days, My Friend? received the most votes in the first-ever ASAS Video Competition. Written and directed by UC Davis cooperative extension specialist Alison Van Eenennaam, the video shows the impact of production efficiency and biotechnology.

Also on the video team were UC Davis students Kristina Weber and Kevin Au, who collected the photos. Vocals on a song cover were supplied by Ramona Swenson. The team will receive the first place prize of $1,250.
