Irrigation meeting set for March 5 in Gatesville, N.C.
The program will provide details on the varios aspects of water management including overhead, subsurface drip and subsurface irrigation as well as drainage. Also, details about options for utilizing various water resources will be covered.

Due to harsh winter weather, the Northeast North Carolina Irrigation and Drainage Meeting originally scheduled for Feb. 17 has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 5.
At the meeting, farmers can learn the latest informaiton on water management. The meeting begins a 10 a.m. at the Merchants Millpond State Visitor Center in Gatesville, N.C. and includes a sponsored lunch and field site visits from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The program will provide details on the various aspects of water management including overhead, subsurface drip and subsurface irrigation as well as drainage. Also, details about options for utilizing various water resources will be covered.
At 10 a.m., Chad Poole, biological and ag engineering specialist at North Carolina State University, will speak on subsurface drainage and irrigation. At 10:30 a.m., Robert Evans, biological an ag engineering specialist at NCSU, will speak on overhead irrigation and drip irrigation. At 11:00 a.m., Billy and Bradley Gilliam will speak on piping and electric hook-up to above ground irrigation systems. At 11:25, Bill Magette will address well systems.
